Private Lessons

We believe private training is the fastest and most effective form of dog training available. Working one-on-one, we will teach you how to instill great manners in your dog and teach useful skills. We are also able to address problem behaviors, such as jumping on guests, house breaking, separation anxiety, chewing, destruction, excessive barking and much more—sometimes in as little as one session!

In almost all situations, we start with an in-home session. At this session, we begin by reviewing your dog’s history as well as discussing the goals that you have for your dog. We will also observe how you are currently working with your dog so that we can effectively formulate a training plan. We then begin demonstrating training exercises and coaching you on how to practice them. You will also receive step-by-step instructions on how to continue to advance these exercises during your time between appointments.

Follow up sessions vary greatly depending on what your goals are for your dog. These sessions can be at your home or on location, depending on what we are working on. Frequency of sessions may also vary. Most commonly, we see people every week. This allows for plenty of time for you to practice the training exercises that have been taught and be ready to move on to new things.

Puppy Programs

Training for your puppy should begin as soon as you bring them home (typically 7 to 8 weeks of age.) Starting training at this age will help greatly in improving their confidence, helping them become a more stable adult, and can help to prevent future behavior problems. Our puppy programs cover 6 important categories that will teach both you and your puppy how to become the well-behaved adult dog that you will be proud of.

1. Human Learning Skills

We don't speak dog and dogs don't speak human. In this section of the course, you will learn valuable skills that will make common routines with your puppy a breeze.

2. Socialization & Positive Exposure

How to introduce puppies to the world we live in, safely and positively. Doing this when puppies are young will help to lower the possibilities of them becoming fearful and/or reactive to people, objects, and even sounds.

3. Problem Solving & Prevention

Management is important to control what puppies learn and prevent them from learning undesirable behavior.

4. Puppy Foundation Behaviors

Foundation behaviors like sit, down, stay, and recall are the building blocks for advanced training in the future. These behaviors also help greatly in maintaining a well-mannered dog.

5. Enrichment-Physical & Mental

With enrichment your dog can satisfy their need for mental and physical stimulation in appropriate ways that will promote good health and well-being.

6. Field Trips

Field Trips encourage pet parents to take puppies out on outings and field trips in the community. This will help add variety to your puppies training while also engaging in fun activities.

Reactivity

Reactive dogs are typically considered dogs who bark and lunge on-leash at other dogs, and in some cases, people, kids, bikes, critters, and a variety of other things. These dogs are often not truly aggressive dogs but are dogs who have a hard time controlling themselves in the face of something exciting or potentially scary to them.

We do work with reactive dogs but are somewhat selective in the cases that we take. Please contact us, and we will discuss your specific dog and see if we are a good fit.

Basic Obedience

Dog obedience is paramount for a happy and safe dog and home. The number one most important training for ANY dog, no matter what their purpose, is obedience. An obedient dog is a happy, stable, and controllable dog! We will help you teach the basic commands and develop these into advanced commands and behaviors. This allows you to always maintain control of your dog and will build a lasting relationship between the two of you.

What you will gain from our obedience training:

  • Learn basic obedience commands and training techniques
  • Learn dog training theory and how dogs communicate
  • Grow and bond with your dog
  • Turn an unruly dog into an obedient companion
  • Learn the proper way to discourage and correct problem dog behaviors
  • Keep your dog safe and in control

Socialization Program

Puppy socialization is more than just a fun way to show off your adorable new puppy. The "socialization" period is the critical time between 3 and 12 weeks of age. It's the time frame in a puppy's life when everything that they experience determines the outcome on how they will see, respond, and behave to those things usually for the rest of their lives. If a puppy is well-socialized and has a positive experience during this period, they will grow up thinking the world is a wonderful, safe, and good place—and that's what you want. Aside from potty training, socialization might be the most important thing you and your puppy do together!

My socialization program is designed to help you expose and socialize your puppy to the most common things that they will encounter throughout their life while ensuring that their experiences are positive, safe, and fun.

 Aggression

Aggression can be some of the toughest cases to handle, and what makes it more upsetting is when it’s YOUR dog that’s being aggressive. Aggression is just as stressful for dogs as it is for dog owners. Since dogs have the same goal as humans which is to get through the day with as little stress as possible, we owe it to them and ourselves to get the help needed to resolve these issues. Many aggressive dogs have some deep-rooted anxiety and fear that needs to be addressed. Aggression is not a natural state of mind for a dog, but rather, the result of negative experiences, frustration, fear, or lack of socialization. Sometimes it is a combination of these things, creating an even more complex issue. But despite the severity, aggression is something that can be overcome, and we’re here and ready to help you!!!

Adolescence

Are you wondering where your well-mannered puppy went, and why they’ve turned into an unpredictable and even sometimes out of control adolescent? Well don’t worry, you’re not alone. I’ve created a program that will help you get back the dog you can once again be proud of.

The adolescence stage for dogs can vary for each individual dog. Sometimes beginning as early as 8 months old, but typically occurs between 12 to 24 months of age. Even with a great start in puppyhood, once many dogs reach adolescence, it becomes frustrating, unruly, and simply maddening in some ways.

There’s a real gap in education for pet parents when dealing with possibly the most difficult stage in their dog’s life; “The Adolescent Stage.” Online you’ll find lots of information about puppies and other popular dog topics. But what about adolescent dogs?

I’ve created a comprehensive program that will cover 5 key areas to help successfully guide your dog to maturity while also motivating and empowering you as well.
